History & Data

The Mastodon should really be classified as a shuttle but since it is a multi-purpose craft and the first module that was designed for it was the bomb unit it was classified as such.

The design of the Mastodon is very reminiscent of a shuttle with a blunt rounded nose containing a 35mm gatling and its ammunition, just aft of this is a large blister like cockpit holding a four man crew and then below and aft of that is a passenger cabin large enough for the two load masters and a full squad of hard-suited personnel to act as guards while the shuttle was grounded.

In the aft section is the modular system that can hold numerous modules, the main reaction engines are just aft of these in the tail with two in the upper corners and two in the lower corners, there is also a hatch and ramp that can connect with whatever module is being used.

The craft has large almost delta like swept back wings with the four secondary engines mounted to them.

There are currently ten different modules available for the Mastodon –

· Naval Gun Module – This module carries four 50cm naval guns capable of firing out to a twenty-five kilometer range, the module sets down landing jacks with spikes to hold the shuttle in place while firing, the module also carries 100 shells of various types.

· Sub-Capitol Module – This module is basically a large box with five tubes capable of holding a single sub-capitol missile each.

· Long Range Missile Module – This module has thirty tubes [three rows of ten] capable of holding long range missiles, the magazine holds an additional 120 missiles.

· Medium Range Missile Module – This module has seventy-five tubes [five rows of fifteen] capable of holding medium range missiles, the magazine holds an additional 675 missiles.

· Cargo Module – This module is capable of holding up to 250 metric tons of cargo.

· Platoon Transport Module – This module is capable of holding up to 50 hardsuited personnel.

· Field Hospital Module – This module holds a squad of medical personnel and up to twenty-five prone patients or forty ambulatory patients.

· Command Post Module – This module holds the command and control equipment for up to a company of troops and is crewed by twenty-five personnel.

· Re-Armament Module – This weapon holds enough munitions and fuel cells to re-arm and re-fuel up to a dozen mecha and has a crew of fifteen.

· Bomb Carrying Module – This module can hold the following –

o 250 1,000kgs. Bombs.

o 500 500kgs. Bombs.

o 1,000 250kgs. Bombs.
